I have been making profit with my NBA plays 8 years in a row now with an average yield close to 9% (considering the turnover its solid). What I will do here is post some of my plays, but always with few paragraphs of explanations why I think it is a good bet. I personally think if you cant put up reasoning behind your bet better than "its my gut feeling" you probably should not take it.

So, please, follow me or do not follow me, but if you do and you like what you get, please visit my site www.nbabets.net and read all my free analyses.

Thunder vs Rockets 11/03

This line here talks volumes about the Thunder`s reputation as a team. Public sees them as a suprerior squad that has the highest chance to challenge the Heat. The truth is. while the Thunder is an excellent team, their latest form leaves many question marks hanging in the air.

The Thunder have been looking much worse since the return of Russell Westbrook. In fact they have lost 5 of their last 8 games and 2 in a row. What is worse is that they have looked like team deserving to lose. Their latest game against the Lakers was probably the worst in recent history. It is not a bad streak by a bad luck. Reality is that Russell Westbrook is naturally a ballhog type of player and every shot he takes is a potential shot KD could or should have taken. Westbrook is clearly not at his best at the moment, so he actually hurts the team. They also miss Kendrick Perkins, who could have been a serious force against Dwight Howard.

Houston at the same time is clicking recently. They have 3 great wins in March (MIA, IND and POR (and have an active 5-game winning streak. They could be playing as the best team in the league at the moment. The recent effort has lifted them in the Western Conference standings and they now hold the 3rd seed (44-19) and are only 2 wins behind the Thunder. While the Thunder is 5-5 over last 10 games the Rockets are 8-2.

The Thunder will enter this game as slight favorites, but only slight, and the Rockets have good chance to surprise the public and take the win here. One team is clicking, while the other team is not. Take the Rockets to win with 4/10 units.

After 31 picks I have 43 units of profit with a solid yield of 31,68%. You can find my pick statistics and results http://www.nbabets.net/results/

Jazz vs Clippers

With the way these teams are playing at the moment it is difficult to imagine how this game can stay competitive for an extended period of time. Much stronger teams than the Jazz are finding it hard to keep it close against the Clippers at the moment.

The Clippers now have won 8 games in a row and have been playing an escellent basketball as of late. They have scored over 100 points in all of these 8 games and the winning streak includes wins against OKC, HOU, twice against PHX and GSW. With those huge leaps that Blake Griffin has improved his game this season also comes the improvement of the team. Griffin now is shooting 70% from the free-throw line, can make outside shots and has better skills under the rim. He actually is top candidate for the most improved player award this season. In that sense not having Chris Paul for a while has helped the Clippers a lot. While CP3 was out Blake learned how to take the full responsibility as a leader on court and with CP3 back they have managed not to get in eachothers way. All that means that they are playing great at the moment and look unbeatable.

If they are to lose it surely won`t happen against the Jazz. Utah is just too bad at the moment. They have won only 1 of their last 8 games (against the 76ers) and their recent losses include 26-point loss to Milwaukee, 13-point loss to Washington and 27 point loss to New York. They play at home, but the Clippers are just clicking too much and will fly high above the Jazz players heads. LAC to cover -8.5 points with 6/10 units.

Nuggets vs Wizards 23/03

After beating the Clippers and the Pistons at home and losing to the Mavericks in an away game the Nuggets will play their last game this week at home again. They have been excellent at home recently winning their last 4 games. Although the Nuggets have a losing record 31 wins and 38 losses, they have a winning record at home with 18-16.

The Wizards overall record is 36-33. It is 5 wins better than the Nuggets have, but the Wizards also play in much weaker Conference. That means a lot easier schedule, weaker opponents and probably a better record than their quality deserves. Against the Western Conference teams Washington is only 11-17 and in away games they are with 4 wins and 10 losses.

Denver is a strong home team as they have clear advanatages thanks to high altitude conditions. They are also currently on a 4-game winning streak playing home. Washington has struggled against the Western Conference teams, especially playing away. Overall quality of these teams should be similar, but the Nuggets have a clear home advantage to make them favorites to cover -1 points. 4/10 units.

T'Wolves vs Clippers 31/03

Minnesota will miss the play-offs again this year. They are not mathematically eliminated yet, but with a 36-35 record they are 7 wins behind the 8th seed and with 10 games to play their chances are as close to zero as possible. The players know that too, but they have been playing like pros and taking care of the teams they should beat. Two latest examples are the struggling Hawks and Lakers who both were blown away by the Timberwolves. It has been a different story against the teams that play for something though. Houston Phoenix and Memphis all need wins and they all have delivered a loss for the Wolves in last 10 days.

The Clippers of course fall to the category of those teams that want to win the game. At the moment they are 3rd team in the Western Conference, but only one 1 away from the Thunder. With 8-2 record in last 10 games and the Thunder showing some weaknesses at times they still can catch them. It is of course crucial for the potential home court advantage in the 2nd round of the play-offs. The Clippers have been playing great and have suffered only 2 losses in March.

This will be 4th and last meeting between these teams this season. All 3 previous games have gone in favor of the Clippers. That said, the winning margins have been close (twice by 4 and once by 2 points). Minnesota has this game back-to-back though, their motivation to win at any cost is doubtful and the Clippers are different kind of animal than earlier this season. LAC to cover -3.5 points with 5/10 units.

Kings vs Mavs 06/04

While it makes no difference for the Kings if they win or lose this game, for the Mavericks the play-offs have started already. They need to play all the remaining regular season games with the play-off intensity to secure their place for the postseason. Consequently this game means a whole lot more for the Mavericks.
With a record of 27 wins and 49 losses, the Kings really have nothing to play for. Being elliminated from the play-offs long time ago they could in fact help themselves by losing more. They played one of their worst games of the season on Friday, when they lost to the Warriors by 33 points (after trailing already by 30 at the halftime). Golden State is actually in quite a similar position as Dallas, so this should be a good indication what motivation means in these type of games.

The Mavericks have 1 game lead over 9th seed in the West, so they really can`t allow themselves to lose against weaker opponents. With a record of 46 wins and 31 losses they are almost 20 wins ahead of the Kings. Sacramento is also missing some key players with Isaiah Thomas suffering right quad injury, Rudy Gay expecting his first child and Carl Landry, Jason Terry out for season. Motivation is the key here. Dallas -4.5 points with 6/10 units.

Pistons vs Raptors 13/04

It is a meeting between two teams that rarely stay under 100 points. The pressure is off for the Pistons as they can`t climb or fall in the standings for the rest of the way. The Raptors want to win though to secure their 3rd seedin the East. All that means that the Pistons will play their usual uptempo offense and probably do not care that much at the other end, while The Raptors will take advantage of it.

Detroit has scored 94, 104, 115, 102, 100 and 98 points in 6 games during the month of April. 94 points they scored against the Pacers and 98 points against the Bulls – two teams that belong to the top of defensive teams in the league. The Raptors are not even near as good defensive team and they like to push the ball aswell. In April the Raptors are yet to stay under 100 points. Toronto`s totals have been 107, 102, 102, 125 and 100 points.

It is an early game, but both teams are rested and like to play uptempo games. Detroit likes to take an early shots and their defense will allow the Raptors to do the same. Relatively high scoring game is expected. Take over 206 points with 5/10 units.
